I recently posted about the new 24-70mm f/2.8 I purchased, and I must say I am absolutely over the moon with it.
At the time of checking it out, I wanted to get the 70-200mm f/2.8 at the same time, but couldn’t quite afford both. So I decided to hold off and just go for the 24-70. Well with the time laps it took to finally get the lens, that ended up being a bad move because I had managed to get what I needed for both and I’m thinking it’s going to be another 2 or 3 months before I’ll get it.
When I got the phone call to say the 24-70 had arrived, I asked if they could get the 70-200 in for me. The answer was, “sure, but the price has gone up, it’s now $250.00 more than we original quote”. The reason being, a new supplier had taken over the importing of the Tamron line and increased all the prices. I decided not to get it as the supplier couldn’t justify the reasoning for the increase. I let them know I wasn’t happy and that I had a friend who was about to go overseas who will pick one up for me. I also let them know that would mean one less lens that shows up in their sales report at the end of the year and left it at that.
Well the good news is. On Thursday I got a call to say they are running a one off promotion taking $150 off the price. Yah it’s still $100 more than what I was first quoted, but that I can live with.
Yee Haa!! Can’t wait.
And it should be here in a Day or two.
